TOURREPORT DIMENSION SEVEN SWITSERLAND 2000
Thursday 2 November
Thursday 2 November Dimension Seven left for the second time this year to Switserland. At 03.30 P, Spooky, Jelle, 474C44, Noor, Joke and René departed from Arnhem, heading for Bad Ragaz, to do a gig at Cafe Beatz. At 17.00 we arrived and were welcomed generously, we also played here the last tour. After an hour of relaxing we could set the stage, eat and the toko could get crowded, as far as we were concerned. Cafe Beatz is rather small and actually too small for a energetic band like Dimension Seven. The attendance was not overwhelming, but the people that came thought it super! Joke took the place of the barkeeper with an athletic jump over the bar. The audience loved it and with Fuzzy as finisher this was a good start of this mini-tour. After the gig the whole band ran to the basement with the smoking-refrigerator. Spooky set the big and long example by isolating himself with a joint. In the end everybody went to bed completely stoned.
Friday 3 November
At Friday Dimension Seven had to get on the bus at 13.00 to follow their way to Biel. In June of this year we played at a festival here (the Barbarie-festival). This time we played in the Gaskessel, or Chesso Coupole. As the name suggests it had something to do with a Gasskettle. It was a fantastic venue. Round with a cupola ceiling on a concrete wall sunken in the ground. The exterior shape was very well visible on the inside, which gave a cathedral kind of effect. Broad stage with a battery of lights above it, great sound.. The whole place was covered with graffiti which created a sinister atmosphere. The hanging of the backdrop took some efforts and irritations. With a long ladder we had to pull it through the lights to tie it up with rope and tape. Of course Jelle, Noor and René solved this problem very well.
All other things were very well taken care of here, backstage the refrigerator was stripped of the alcohol and the lasagna and the veggy food was eaten as if we would never get any food ever again. The lightengineer of the venue all of a sudden seemed to have disappeared, so a surrogate lightengenieer had to be called from nowhere. With some instructions of the band this would be alright. The soundcheck could last a bit longer because the supportact still hadn’t arrived yet. So we had much time to get a great sound. The supportact was the Swiss band Silver Inc. The audience already knew this band, as far as we could see, and they got rather excited already, which showed in the excitement which was our part.
At 24.00 the volume was turned to the max and in Biel they remembered again who we were. The huge moshpit inspired the band members even more and they couldn’t resist the ‘gwilldich’screams. One song more wasn’t enough though. Jelle got on stage and tried to make clear that this was really the end, but the audience was unstoppable and Jelle had to direct the band to the stage again. It was fantastic, even until after the show.. ‘gwilldich 474C44..., gwilldich P.......’ Unfortunately we couldn’t live up to the demand for our debut cd ’10 ways to hate’ because the record will only be released when there’s a label, but with the promise that it would be available within three months the mailinglist was completed to stay informed of the most recent developments. With the announcement that next day’s show in the ‘Reithalle’ in Bern was cancelled we went, completely worn, to a youth hostel to get some sleep.
